This component of the mission is assistance to eligible individuals/families belonging to EWS categories – the eligibility criteria based on income and house ownership, i.e., a person under the EWS category whose monthly income is not more than Rs. 25,000/- and who doesn’t own a pucca house/owns a small pucca house of less than 23 Sqm carpet area in any parts of India, can apply as a beneficiary. The objective of the Beneficiary Led Construction Project is to enable the beneficiary to either construct a new house or enhance his existing by availing central assistance (subsidy) of Rs.1.50 lakhs in 3 (three) installments for construction of a new houses or for enhancement of their existing houses in case of a pucca house.
As per our context where majority of our urban poor despite owning small plot of land each lacks resources to construct pucca houses, the Beneficiary Led Construction project under the PMAY – HFA (U) mission has really benefitted and encouraged our people in the urban areas in constructing one’s own pucca house. Moreover, with the efforts put in by each beneficiary in building their own pucca house our State is being able to achieve the objective of this mission.
