The burgeoning trajectory of urbanization in Nagaland necessitated the upgradation of Municipal Affairs Cell under Urban Development Department, Nagaland to a full-fledged Municipal Affairs Department in 2015, tasked to administer, facilitate and monitor the increasing number of ULBs in Nagaland The Department is directly under the charge of Hon’ble Chief minister, Nagaland who is assisted by Hon’ble Advisor, Urban Development Department (UDD) and Municipal Affairs Department (MAD). The Administrative Head of the Department is Commissioner & Secretary, Urban Development Department and Municipal Affairs Department
